The city that was one day capital of Italy, Florence is a mixture of Renaissance, Medieval and Baroque. The most impressive construction, Florence Cathedral has the biggest dome in the world in the top of a church.
In front of the church, the Florence Baptistery, also known as the Baptistery of Saint John, has a mosaic-covered interior. Constructed between 1059 and 1128 with an octogonal dome, has the status of a minor basilica.
There are two great view point in Florence, The dome of the cathedral and the tower, Campanile. For only 10 euros you can access both attracttions. To get to the top you must climb 463 steps until the dome, the highest viewpoint from Florence city.
Inside the cathedral just before the last steps to the top you can observe the interior of the dome close by.
The way to the top of the tower is a bit more entertaining because of some small windows. After 417 degrees you get to the viewpoint
At a certain point you can see how how the building is just under your feet. Not a great place if you have altitude sickness.
From the campanile, the tower with the bell you have a great view from the Cathedral dome.
By the end of the day I spend the sunset in Michelangelo square, hearing some street artist music and checking out a marriage photography session.
