I did a day trip to Bruges from Brussels with two Italians (Franscesco and Giuseppe) I met on a BlaBlaCar trip between Amsterdam and Brussels, for only 10 euros return.
Bruges is a tiny beautiful city one hour away from the capital of Belgium with a few similarities with Amsterdam architecture.
We parked the car in a street that you could leave the car without paying for 4 hours, using a blue sticker available in the documents of the rented car.
We headed by foot to the main square of Bruges, The Markt (“Market Square”) located in the heart of the city where we could see the Belfry of Bruges and the Provincial court. This square has a food market every Wednesday morning. It is also possible to take the 366 steps to climb the Belfry for 8 EUR.
We walked around and passed by to gorgeous churches.
The city has a few windmills nearby the river and it’s worth visiting.
In every entry of the city there is also a medieval fortification used in the past t protect the city from enemies.
After that we headed back to Brussels. Great city!
