I was not planning to visit Trieste, an Italian town near the border with Slovenia. However, upon arriving in the city, I came across the closed bus station and had to stay there one night. What saved me was the Wi-fi from a very nice Chinese restaurant, the Luka Bar. I had a 3 euros sandwich and a beer for dinner to decide my next move.
The day after I visited Piazza D. Unità D’ Italia, the world largest square in front of the sea. This square include other attractions such as the Government Palace, the Municipal Palace, and the Stratti, Pitteri and Modello palaces.
Another interesting part of the city to visit is the castle di San Giusto which has a triangular shape and that is near the square. At the entrance of the castle there are two options: buy the entrance of the wall for a euro or buy the entrance of the museum + wall for 6 euros. I only visited the wall, which is actually a lookout of the city. You can view the city from all sides of the castle. Next to this castle there is the cathedral of San Giusto which can also be visited.
The third point that I consider quite valid the visit include the great canal and its surroundings.
The Serbo-Ortodossa church of San Spiridione in the neo-Byzantine style in front of the canal is very beautiful on the outside and impressive inside and entrance is free.
At the end of the canal is also another church, the di S. Antonio Taumaturgo the Nuovo, which is a neo-classical building.
In the end, it was worth visiting the city.
