Everything about skydiving: read this before jumping out of a plane!
Have you ever considered skydiving? Maybe you want to push your limits, go out of your comfort zone, or simply want to feel adrenaline. Skydiving is a life changing experience.
Here is what you need to now about it:
1) Before jumping
First you will get the proper clothing, some instructions and some motivation. Than you will head to board the plane. You will be safely clipped to your instructor that has 2 parachutes, the main one and the reserve that is used only in case of emergency. If is a tandem flight he will take care of everything, and you are there just to enjoy.
2) Reaching the jumping altitude
The plane departures and slowly reaches the proper altitude for the jump at 12.000 feet or 4.000 meters.
It’s your turn, you reach the plane door, you think holy shiiii*, At this point your heart rate can reach 150 beats per minute, double as the usual speed. For this reason, people with heart problems are not supposed to jump.
It’s now or never.
3) The free fall
Skydiving generates one of the biggest adrenaline rushes a human can experience. It comes when your brain senses danger, enhancing awareness and energy levels. On the free fall, at a speed of 200km per hour that last for about 45 seconds, the rush of adrenaline is intense in the blood stream, takes your body through one hell of a rollercoaster of emotions: anxiety, fear, adrenaline, excitement, relief.
I had an unexpected event on my free fall, since my protection glasses fell off my face! A typical skydive fail hahaha
You are powerless, you scream, you are happy, you feel freedom, you laugh, you are speechless. One thing for sure is that you’re not thinking about anything else other than living in the present.
4) The parachute launch
When the parachute launches, there’s an overwhelming feeling of happiness, and pure joy due to increase levels of neuro chemicals such as Serotonin, Endorphin and Dopamine in the blood stream. You have that feeling of mission accomplished, of success! You feel completely relaxed.
The parachute is open at about 5.500 feet before reaching land. After the opening you still have about 4 minutes to enjoy the view.
5) The landing
The landing is actually the most dangerous part of skydiving, since the equipment is very safe. Lading depends on the ability of the pilot and on current winds.
All the neuro chemicals explains why we land feeling re-energized and happy, with a fresh boost of creativity and inner balance, ready to face any challenge in our lives.
