I was walking through the sights of Vienna, Austria, when suddenly I began to hear loud music and great movement. To my surprise, the 2014 film festival in Vienna was happening in front of the City Hall (Rathaus).A huge screen in front of one of the main sights of the city, from where anyone can watch one of the movies of the program for free.
The festival takes place over 20 years and the whole summer brings about 700 thousand visitors from the country and abroad. In addition to the movie screen and the various seats distributed democratically for the population and tourists, the festival has a complex of tents that include restaurants, lounges, among other establishments. This year had a record of food tents, with 26 places to eat between eleven in the morning and midnight, including Brazilian cuisine.
I took the opportunity to try the famous Erdbeerbowle, the German strawberry wine punch, a light alcoholic beverage that includes in its ingredients: chopped strawberries, strawberry liqueur, sugar, lemon, sparkling wine, white wine and eventually even a little water. The 300 ml glass cost 3.6 Euros, affordable price compared to the average Vienna, which is a relatively expensive city.
The festival takes place every year in July and August, always in the same place for 20 years. For you who enjoy cinema and gastronomy, it’s a good spot to be!
