Visiting the Heinekem brewery in Amsterdam is a must-see. Upon entering the museum / brewery, you get a bracelet with 3 pins. Each pin equals one glass with beer during the visit.
In the first room you are greeted by a video explaining the history of the brewery. Soon after, it goes through some rooms that show some of the evolution of the brewery during the years and reinforces the focus of the brand on quality. After this we arrive in a room that shows the 4 ingredients of beer, they are: water, barley, hops and yeast. In the next room are the large fermentation tanks where it is possible to try water with barley, which is the first stage of beer.
In the next part of the tour, I was surprised with a shed with horses. The brand has valued horses since 1984 and is a sponsor of events linked to it.
We climb a ladder and stop in a room that simulates that we are the ingredients of beer and we are going through all the manufacturing processes. This part is very cool, because the video is synchronized with the movements of the floor in the room. Even jets of water and hot winds blow.
After this we go to a taste session and soon after for a part of the tour where it is possible to make a customized bottle with your name for only 6 euros.
In the next room is a modern part of the museum that is full of technological images and interactive games. There is a soccer-only session where you can play football on a playstation 3. After that, a session of interactive activities such as uploading photos and videos to social networks, custom shirt making and karaoke.
Almost at the end of the tour there is an activity that is learning to serve a beer. A bartender teaches you how to serve, you do until you get it right and after that you get a POURER certificate.
At the end of the tour we arrive at the bar where it is possible to spend the pins of the bracelet to drink beer and finally we arrive at the mall of sourvenirs that has many interesting things. In the mall you also collect your customized bottle.
The tour costs 16 euros and is well worth doing!
