How Amsterdam’s coffee shops work

Amsterdam’s famous coffee shops are places where marijuana is allowed and some have the well-known marijuana cake. The establishments themselves sell the drug and the government earns tax on that sale. Smoking is not allowed outside although they have chairs, everything must happen inside the property.

I visited the Barraka coffee shop that is in Gravenstraat 9, and I tried the marijuana cake which, by the way, was very tasty. The taste was similar to a chocolate cake. The cake cost 5 euros and the piece was not generous.

I was with four Australian friends who made friends at the hostel (Songaz, Eric, Albert and Jasper) who bought the drug and it cost 8 euros the amount to make a cigarette.

The place is crammed with marijuana smoke. If you do bother with the smell, I definitely do not recommend visiting a coffeeshop. In addition, the place also sells coffee, tea and other things. As Amsterdam is famous for being quite liberal in relation to drugs, I have considered the experience well valid at the cultural level.
