Kitesurfing is a sport I have always had an interest in learning. After scuba diving I decided to visit the southern beach in Eilat and watched a lot of people doing windsurfing and kitesurfing. I asked the price at KiteX Eilat school and he explained it to me.
A 2-hour lesson costs 550 shekels, about 100 euros and three lessons which is recommended for learning costs 1500 shekels, about 300 euros. The instruction is exclusive, 1 teacher for 1 student. I did the first lesson to see if I would do the following according to my learning curve. In the first hour I learned everything about safety and equipment.
We followed all the next steps before heading to the water.
1. Open the kite and fill with air
2. Position the kite to attach the strings
3. Move the kite to the launching area
4. Organize the strings to attach in the belt
5. With the swimsuit, and the belt attached to your body, put the kite up in the air.
In the second hour of the class I went to the water with the instructor without board to learn how to handle the kite. I learned a lot and was already doing the 8, that means able to move both sides. Since I was improving fast I decided to pay for the second lesson and headed to the water again to do more half-hour review of 8 and had a successful attempt to get myself up with the board in my foot. The last 30 minutes I did a trial with the board by myself using a helmet with a radio that I would use to communicate with my instructor that was in a boat.
The wind was worse than morning and I had a hard time climbing the board and controlling the kite at the same time. I lost about 30 minutes just trying to lift the kite because I dropped it about 5 times. In the end I was able to stay once more on the board, but I fell and the time finished. In the next picture my kite is on the right.
This second lesson was not as productive, but definitely the amount of hours recommended by them, 6 hours, is the ideal amount. I just did not pay any more because I was already poor. But it was well worth it!
