How to visit the Pisa tower in a day trip from Florence

The Pisa tower is a famous attraction but the city do not have a lot to offer, allowing you to see it in one day. An easy way to go there is taking a train in Florence that will cost you 8 EUR and least around one hour trip.

You don´t need to buy in advance, just go to the main terminal (Santa Maria Novella) and get your tickets in the “tabacchi” valid for 90km in the toscan region. Before adquiring them you must look for the timetable panel and figure out where is the platform the next train direction Pisa is going from. Stamp your ticket and get a seat.

When you arrive in Pisa there are two bus lines, LAM Rosa and number 3 and the tickets can be bought in a newspaper shop or in the “tabacchi”. The ticket that brings you to the tower cost only 1 EUR but I chose to go by walk and took me only 15 minutes.

I bought a map for 3 EUR in the terminal so I would not lose my self in the city. If you have luggage there are plenty of luggage storage rooms in Florence and Pisa starting at 6 EUR per bag and varying prices acoording to time you leave your luggage there.

Follow the main road with the flow of turists  and enjoy the view of the toscan region. I even found a store selling Guaraná Antartica, a brazilian soft drink, closeby the terminal.

There are five attractions in the complex of Pisa including: The tower, the cathedral, The Baptistery, Camposanto and museum.

The interior of the cathedral is fantastic and is free of charge to get in. I payed 1 EUR to get an explanation about the cathedral history inside. To get into the Baptistery, Museum or Camposanto you must pay extra 5 EUR. To get to the top of the Pisa tower you must pay 18 EUR and wait in a huge waiting line.

If you have good weather do no forget to write a postal card to someone while enjoying the grass.
