Discovering the old constructions of Delhi

Delhi is the capital and most crowded city in India. The first time I visited the city I did couchsurfing for 3 days in the south area of the city. The second time I was in Delhi I booked a hotel in a very chaotic area close to the train station called “Main Bazar”.20150428_120442

Most of the touristic attractions are tombs. To visita these places the tickets are around 100 to 300 INR, that means 2 to 5 USD each. In the north part of the city is a must to visit the biggest mosque in India, a Jama Masjid. The entrance fee is 300 INR and you pay extra 100 to clim the tower.

From there I took the cycle rickshaw to the train station, passing by the are called old Delhi.

The most unmissable places to go are the Safdarjung and Humayun, the second is a UNESCO heritage.

The red fort and the Indian gate, built in tribute to the war victims include in the list of the places you must visit in the capital o India.

A place that I really appreciated was the Laxminarayan Temple, which has no entrance fee.

In the south of Delhi, Qtub Minar, the biggest stone tower in India is also a UNESCO heritage and great place to visit.

Important to notice that in India the tourist are also big attractions or celebrities, for the Indians. Is very common that locals ask for pictures with you. Sometimes I accepted, sometimes not.

In the south of the city you can visit the Lotus temple, a place projected to maintain a comfortable internal temperature even when is 40 degrees outside.
