I wasn’t planning to visit Doha, but the cheapest flight from Egypt to Kenya was with Qatar airlines including 18 hours stopover in Doha.
I went to look for lodging and I was scared because the cheapest one was 100 dollars so I thought about it and concluded that the best thing was to rent a car and to sleep in it. I rented a Mitsubishi Lancer for $ 20 to pick up at the airport. I was a bit tense in the border and had the car’s reservation in hand and the first thing they asked was: In which hotel are you staying? No stammering: Mercure. He looked, typed something and asked me to pay the $ 30 visa. Phew, stamp of entry! I took the following photo as soon as I crossed the border.
In the car rental the same question and I convinced myself that I was at the Mercure. They informed me that there was no Mistubishi and they upgraded the category and price. I got an automatic Accent Huynday. It was late in the day and I went to a mall to eat something.
I strolled along the coast that was full of people around 7 pm and I was able to take a picture of the city at night.
I found a large open area where there were a few parked cars, left small apertures in the glass to breathe and tried to sleep.
The next morning I woke up around 5 in the morning. I slept very badly, because I was a little afraid of robbery or police.
I went to see the sunrise on the coast, from the window of my “hotel”.
The city in the morning is very beautiful, due to the reflection of the sun in the water and in the buildings.
I took a selfie to get registered that backpacker can sleep in any corner, even this car was more comfortable than some hostels I stayed in.
