Tollwood, a multicultural summer festival

Tollwood is a summer festival that happens every year since 1988 in Munich.  For 25 days in June and July in the south part of Olympiapark you are able to eat many different foods, watch performances and musicians playing. In the winter the festival happens every December since 1991. Together both festivals count with 1.5 million visitors every year (900k in the summer and 600k in the winter).

The event is based in 3 platforms: ideas market, gastronomy festival for organic products and cultural programs including music, teacher presentations and visual arts.

The festival sees itself as a forum to ecology and environment conscience. It wants to serveolympiapark-munich as a platform to relevant issues in this area and to give strength to environmental projects.

To get there in Olyimpiapark, just under the television tower Olympiaturm the organizers recommend 2 ways: public transport or bicycle. If you come by public transport you must got to Scheidplatz train station (U3) and get the special bus from the festival Tollwood-Bus 99. If you do come by bicycle it is really easy and there is plenty of parking space around. I choose the bike to do my part with the environment issues and make some exercise!
