I was in Zurich and went to visit the city of Lucerne about an hour from Zurich. The train ticket cost 45 Swiss francs round trip and a stretch takes about an hour. I arrived almost at lunch time and after leaving the station I went towards important tourist attractions.
1. The Kapellbrücke (Bridge of the chapel)
A 14th century wooden footbridge spanning diagonally across the Reuss and a 43-meter tower, the wasserturm.
2. Jesuitenkirche, the Jesuit Church of Lucerne
I then went along the riverbank and found, on the left side, this church from St. Franz Xaver, unfortunately it was closed for visitation.
There was a boat trip that cost 30 Swiss francs, but only days later I discovered that with my train ticket I could use the boat as a way of transport.
3. Hofkirche (church of hope)
I crossed to the historic center and came across another beautiful church, the Hofkirche, known as Church of St. Leodegar is a Roman Catholic church built in parts from 1633 to 1639 on the foundation of the Roman basilica which had burnt in 1633.
4. Lion Monument
A further 10 minutes walk through the beautiful streets of Lucerne, a surprise, a beautiful lion carved out of a sandstone rock above a pond at the east end of the medieval town.
In the end I took a picture of the beautiful flower called Artischoke
After walking a little longer and observing that it was already the end of the day, I returned to the station and returned to Zurich. Nice town for a knock.
